The first episode of the series is titled ‘Jigra (Brave)’. The series begins with a shot from Dheeraj Kumar, which is undoubtedly brilliant, but as soon as the voice-over begins, it upsets my mood. Now listen once more before contradicting the above statement …
Speaking Hindi is not good due to the fact that he is a Punjabi actor and when we do not say great, we mean it sounds like coercion because Kumar naturally has a Punjabi dialect which was dominant everywhere.
Instead, it would be better to cast a Hindi actor and either make a good web series in the correct Hindi or make the whole project in Punjabi.
Going forward, there are also consistency flaws in the script – there are bounces between scenes that don’t fit together, making it almost invalid. Speaking of actors in this project, there is an abundance of Punjabi actors, be they Dheeraj Kumar, Ashish Duggal, Malkit Roni or Lakhwinder Lakha, the background set up in Bathinda, Punjab should not be forgotten. So, in our opinion, this series would have been obviously better in Punjabi as the language does not match the dialect is a big turning point for us.
Next, the episode has a lot of unnecessary slow-motion shots that take the whole series away from the feeling. As for the directing part, it is incomprehensible what the story really is. Of course we understand that this is about a place called ‘Takhtgarh’ in Bathinda, which is considered as a state / district in itself, which is surrounded by all the politics. And then the story will continue
The story gives a little background of some of the characters, while Bathinda is a place which is located at the confluence of Haryana, Punjab and Rajasthan. But at the same time, if you are from Chandigarh, Mohali or even Bathinda, the places will confuse you, because when they say it is Bathinda, the places shown are from Chandigarh and Mohali area!
These factors can be easily overlooked by someone who is not familiar with the area, but as the people of these cities, it is a deviation from the plot. Otherwise, the cast and roles are great, after all Dheeraj Kumar was brilliant in ‘Chetwani’, Ashish Duggal and Malkit Rooney should not be forgotten, who have done unparalleled work in the past. However, the fact that this series does not use the real potential of the actors is very useless and embarrassing for the actors.
Overall, language is a major barrier to captivating viewers, and apart from the screenplay, cinematography and directional symbols, which leads us to conclude that watching just one episode of the series feels like a chore. Happens. Definitely not going to go ahead and wait for the rest.
