Sardar Udham Singh Review: Sardar Udham Singh, a valiant Sardar of Punjab, who had taken part in the Indian independence movement as a revolutionary, avenged the Jallianwala Bagh massacre from the British. After countless historical biographies, a film has finally emerged based on the contribution of this freedom fighter in the freedom struggle.

The film ‘Sardar Udham Singh’ is a Bollywood biopic starring Vicky Kaushal, Shaun Scott, Stephen Hogan, Banita Sandhu, Kirsty Averton in special roles. The film is directed by Shoojit Sircar. So here is our review of ‘Sardar Udham Singh’.

Sardar Udham Singh Movie Story

As a historical biopic, it is inspired by true events, so most people already know the story. Sardar Udham Singh was only 19 years old when the Jallianwala Bagh Massacre took place on 13 April 1919. At such a young age, Singh took an oath of revenge from the in-charge, General Reginald Dyer and General Michael O’Dwyer. ‘Dior. However, General Dyer died in 1927, so it was General O’Dwyer who left Udham Singh to avenge the death of the Jallianwala victims. So this story is based on the whole incident of how Udham Singh went to London and carried out his plan to kill O’Dwyer.

If we talk about how the story is told in the film, it is expected that the film will follow the format – Jallianwala Bagh massacre, plans to avenge Sardar Udham Singh, meet Udham Singh, Bhagat Singh, and Then the big dramatic moment for the final shoot. . But it was surprising to see that the film was cut with a non-linear cut, which basically means that the timeline jumps from one to the other instead of following a consistent format.

So in the first 30 minutes where the film shows how Sardar Udham Singh was released from jail and then reached London via Kashmir, it sets the pace of the whole film. But the next hour, which outlines all the planning and intrigue for the shooting at Caxton Hall, seems exaggerated. Also read: Did you know that Nargis Fakhri also appears in Punjabi songs!. Instead of pulling this part out so much, they could have shown us more about the friendship between Bhagat Singh and Udham Singh as the organization in which they were both parts of the Hindustan Socialist Republican Association (HSRA) was mentioned several times in the film. Was Was. These were the details that could be said to be the reason for the arrest of Udham Singh in 1927 which some viewers may not know!

Overall, the film was good because it is a biopic and we all know about it but the film could have cut some things and added some more details at other points.

Acting Review

Vicky Kaushal is the lead actor playing the role of Shaheed Udham Singh. Kaushal has been seen in other biopics or patriotic films like Sanju, where he played the role of Sanjay Dutt (Ranbir Kapoor) and Riri’s best friend, where he played the lead role, an army officer. From side roles in films to becoming one of the most famous names in Bollywood, Vicky Kaushal has come a long way and we feel that the way Kaushal has played the role of Sardar Ham Dham, no one else can be right.

The way the Jallianwala Bagh massacre was portrayed and Vicky Kaushal as 19-year-old Udham Singh will really rock you. We lack the words in the way Kaushal expresses the feelings of a young boy facing such violence, whether he is helpless, desperate to save his life, or seek revenge! The overall carnage is well illustrated. A full hourly wiki skill show where the show is played deserves a prize.

Even the supporting actors performed well. Bollywood is known for doing great work on every character. Also, Amol Parashar, who played the role of Bhagat Singh in the film, played the role well. The only complaint we have is that Bhagat Singh’s role should have been longer. So the acting in the film was commendable.

Directing Review

The film is directed by Shootij Sircar. Now, looking at his previous works like ‘Piku’ (2015) and ‘October’ (2018), we know that the government looks at every little detail. The same is true for this film but somehow ‘Sardar Ham Dham’ had some shortcomings. For example, Vicky Kaushal’s poster look was unusual but we didn’t see it in the movie!

As mentioned earlier, the film starts well, then slows down a bit in the middle, and then ends at a higher level with the Jallianwala Bagh massacre. The best part of the film was the genocide in terms of cinematography and acting. Also, small details like the background of Sardar Udham which should have been part of the entire film were missing.

Overall we can say it’s worth watching movies on Amazon Prime Punjabi Movies for those people who don’t know the story of Sardar Udham Singh Story.
